The design statement for this group project was based around the idea of emulating an intricate forest ecosystem, which is mindful of the diverse organisms currently co-existing. The delicately balanced branches of productivity, sprout from the core sense of community and social interaction. Each branch will have an innate sense of purpose and functionality.
In an intensive unit, I worked as part of a small design team on a large remodelling project for Destination Outpost, a co- working & co-living community. This project was completed over five days, between five students. We were working together on site in Ubud, Indonesia.
Outpost requested a new facade, reception, silent space and collaboration space. They wished for the space to be utilised more efficiently and to create more of a sense of community, whilst appealing to a younger, edgier occupant type at its flagship location.
Our focus as a team, was to improve the buildings first impression, bring the jungle indoors, create a flexible space and enhance conversation and collaboration. I was responsible for the creation of the ecosystem design concept, rough hand sketches during the site visit, constructing the sketchup model and using extensions to generate the axonometric drawings and all perspectives.
