For this solo project, my design intention was to create an occupiable transition space from the permaculture garden to the flexible use interior space, with layered functional designs that amplify the social values of Perth City Farm and it’s contributions to the natural
environment of the surrounding area.
Firstly, I was required to accurately document the heritage building and the site it occupies. After research into its significance and history, I was able to create new additions to the space as requested by the client that would enable concurrent social events to occur with ease, whilst using existing on site materials or budget friendly alternatives in line with the principles of permaculture.
The final design preserves and contributes to the significance of the heritage elements found within the site and remains a place of connection between occupant and land.
