Volume I: The Architecture of the Uncanny

This project stemmed from my personal interest in the structural delicacy of uncanny phenomena. In my earlier years of study, I developed an interest in the works of the architectural critic and historian, Anthony Vidler. I used my readings of his analysis papers paired with the psychoanalytic essays of Sigmund Freud as a base of my theoretical understanding. After analysing theory, history, literature and architectural precedents, the spatial qualities of the uncanny became evident. This volume concludes by layering the findings of each stratum to form reflective diagrams and icons that condense and visually synthesise the discovered themes.
